Boss Katana 50 EX Gen 3 — Stage-Ready Modeling Combo with Tube Logic Feel

The Boss Katana 50 EX Gen 3 is a 50-watt, 1x12-inch modeling combo extending the core Katana-50 Gen 3 with the live-performance features gigging players ask for. Built around BOSS's evolved Tube Logic architecture and a reactive Class AB power section, this third-generation combo delivers the touch-sensitive response of a cranked tube amp without the weight, while the EX edition adds an upgraded custom 12-inch speaker, a dedicated Line Out, and full GA-FC/GA-FC EX foot-controller compatibility.

What Sets the EX Apart: Pushed Voice, Stereo Expand, and IR-Based Outputs

Capturing the touch-sensitive gain of a clean tube combo driven into harmonic saturation, the new Pushed amp character responds dynamically to pick attack for an edge-of-breakup voice. Stereo Expand links two Katana amps via a single cable with master control from the primary unit. All audio outputs feature IR-based cabinet simulation with three Air Feel types and two customizable slots in BOSS Tone Studio.

50-Watt Class AB Power with Switchable Output Stages

Tubelike response comes from the reactive Class AB power section, and the integrated Power Control scales output without sacrificing tone via a panel switch with STANDBY, 0.5 W, HALF (25 W), and MAX (50 W) positions.

• Rated Power Output: 50 W — full stage headroom for club and rehearsal use
• Power Control stages: 0.5 W / 25 W / 50 W — cranked tone at any listening level
• Using the Power Amp In jack (1/4-inch TRS), you can drive the Class AB section directly from an external preamp for flexible setup.

Six Amp Characters, Five Effects Sections, Four Tone Memories

With six amp characters — Acoustic, Clean, Pushed, Crunch, Lead, Brown — and each offering a Variation, players enjoy access to 12 distinct voicings. Five independent effects sections (Booster, Mod, FX, Delay, Reverb) run simultaneously, with 60 total types accessible via BOSS Tone Studio.

• Amp Characters: Acoustic, Clean, Pushed, Crunch, Lead, Brown — acoustic-electric to metal
• Effects Sections: Booster, Mod, FX, Delay, Reverb — five simultaneous effect categories
• Channels & Memories: 2 channels, 4 Tone Settings (expandable to 8 with GA-FC EX) — instant recall of complete setups

Connectivity for Stage, Studio, and Silent Practice

A 1/4-inch Line Out feeds a house PA without muting the speaker, a stereo headphone jack supports silent practice, and a USB-C port sends audio to computers and mobile devices. The Bluetooth Adaptor Slot accepts the optional BT-DUAL module for wireless Tone Studio editing.

• Inputs: 1/4-inch instrument, Power Amp In, Footswitch, AUX IN — guitar, preamps, backing tracks
• On the output side, Line Out, stereo headphones, and USB-C enable silent stage work, home practice, and direct recording without disturbing others.
• Foot Control: GA-FC / GA-FC EX compatible — hands-free preset switching and expression control

For Gigging Guitarists, Home Recordists, and Tone Explorers

This model is the right choice for working guitarists who need one amp that travels from bedroom to mid-size stage without compromise. Home players benefit from Power Control's 0.5 W mode and the stereo headphone output for late-night sessions, while the Line Out and IR-based cabinet simulation handle cafés and small clubs. Studio users get USB-C direct recording with selectable Air Feel IRs.

The BOSS Katana Series — A Decade of Tube-Inspired Modeling

Since the original Katana launched in 2016, BOSS has refined its Tube Logic platform across multiple generations, and this third-generation combo represents the third major evolution. Decades of BOSS amplifier development have led to onboard effects, one-touch memory recall, and reduced weight compared to traditional tube combos. The Gen 3 release adds the Pushed amp character and Bluetooth adaptor compatibility.
