RCA Connectors

RCA CINCH connectors are mainly used for unbalanced analogue audio connections between compatible devices. When choosing, check whether you need a plug or socket, cable or panel mounting and the required number of channels. Colour coding helps distinguish the left and right channels, but the electrical wiring must be checked against the device. The space behind the panel or next to neighbouring connectors is also important.

Transmission quality depends on correct wiring, cable length, shielding and the entire signal path. For a cable connector, compare the conductor diameter, mounting method and strain relief. For a panel-mount version, check the hole dimensions and fastening. If the devices use different signal levels or types, the RCA connector alone will not resolve the difference.

Choose an RCA connector by mounting type

  • check whether you need a plug or socket and the required number of channels,
  • for a cable version, check the conductor diameter and strain relief,
  • for panel mounting, compare the hole, fastening and space behind the panel,
  • use colour coding consistently for the left and right channels.

RCA is commonly an unbalanced analogue connection. For a longer run or another signal type, first check whether it is suitable for both devices; an adapter alone does not resolve differences in level or wiring.
