The BP4029 is a stereo shotgun microphone offering simultaneous cardioid and figure-8 output for M-S stereo decoding or direct X/Y stereo use, engineered for broadcast location sound, documentary production, and any application requiring both directional control and stereo imaging from a single compact body. The front cardioid capsule provides focused, on-axis dialogue pickup while the side figure-8 element captures the full stereo ambience for M-S matrix processing in post-production.

M-S Stereo Architecture

The BP4029's cardioid mid element and figure-8 side element provide a true M-S (mid-side) stereo output on separate XLR channels. M-S recordings can be decoded in post-production to any stereo width from mono-compatible narrow to immersive wide, offering flexibility that fixed X/Y stereo pairs cannot match. The stereo width can also be adjusted without affecting mono compatibility.

Shotgun Directivity for Outdoor Use

The front cardioid element incorporates an interference tube for additional side rejection in mid and high frequencies, providing effective shotgun behavior for dialogue pick-up at production distances in noisy outdoor environments. This combination of shotgun directivity and stereo width control makes the BP4029 particularly useful for nature sound recording, news gathering, and broadcast documentary work.

Phantom Power and Dual XLR Output

The BP4029 operates on 48V phantom power and outputs mid and side signals on two standard XLR connectors, compatible with portable recorders, broadcast mixers, and camera audio inputs that accept dual-channel input. A shock mount thread and integral windscreen slot accommodate standard field wind protection accessories.
